I always knew I wanted text in my book, to add context, but I struggled to find the right thing the write. I didn't want to describe the dream because that takes away the mystery. I did think about poems but decided that they wouldn't be the best fit as I knew that I wouldn't be able to write one that is strong enough and in the quick look I had I couldn't anything I connected with. Luckily I didn't have to worry for to long as whilst I was poem hunting I came up with the idea of adding in song lyrics.

The meaning behind adding in song lyrics is one: to add a little more meaning and context to the image. Two: people, including me zone out whilst listening to music so it is just another form of daydreaming and escapism.

The songs I have chosen are:

  • Stay - Lewis Watson

  • Waves by Dean Lewis

  • An Evening I Won't Forget / Furthest Thing by Dermot Kennedy

  • Happier by Marshmallo and Bastille

  • All We Do by Oh Wonder

  • Blind Eyed by Ren and Sam Tompkins

I carefully chose a few lines from each song that I thought would complement the image.

I am really happy with this idea as I think it is going to help tie my book together.

Incorporating lyrics and images together is something I really enjoyed doing and will defiantly do again in the future.
