On the 22nd November Becky Moore came to talk to us about how to update and create a professional creative CV.
A cv is a celebration of your achievements and share your experiences, its a marketing brochure or advert - a way of selling yourself and make a first impression.

CV content
quick concise content
professional email, social media and portfolio site
profile - short introduction, why you're great, the purpose of this CV and tailored
skills, extras not covered in your experience
Employability experiences - where have you been where do you want to go?
be specific
Additional things to remember
personal details like date of birth and gender don't need to be on there
if your going to have designs on there keep it relativity plain and they are subjective
remember people will only look at a CV they tend to only spend 20-30 seconds
recent stuff first then go backwards
remember to talk about soft skills - skills that are transferable
avoid acronyms as not everyone will know what they mean
avoid bar charts as it can make you look worse than you are
you can have great content and frame it with your creativity
its not just about what you have on your CV its where you put it and who can see it
don't be negative
don't list all your GCSE
Profile Statement
a short positive paragraph about yourself
Focus on YOUR strengths and qualities, inspiration and aspirations
Introduce the rest of your CV
updated it to match the job you are applying for
make sure the profile statement is tailored
keep it relevant and concise - 3-5 sentence's
ask yourself 'so what'
keep it factual
list achievements rather than replicating a job description
talk positively and enthusiastically
use persuasive language
avoid phrases
I always give 110%
I am am out going person
I am a harding working and creative individual
We are all individual, just prove you are
What's a cover letter
it is something employers will read before they decide to read your CV
CV are more factual and the letter is a chance to be more playful
your introduction
AVIOD starting with 'I am writing' its to obvs
be specific to the job and match your skills to what they are asking for
3-5 paragraphs long
make them want to read more
We got told we can send our updated CV and send it to careers@pca.ac.uk
save it YOUR NAME CV.pdf and they will look over it and tell us how we can improve.
Just remember to not save it in pages as not everyone has pages.
Put your CV on LinkedIn - but don't list yourself as a student say you are a junior photographer. Create your cv first then create a LinkedIn account
Remember a lot of jobs aren't advertised - use social media to get a strong presence and people might contact you
