Crit with Amak Mahmoodian

Amak Mahmoodian came to talk to us on the 16th November about her work and afterwards we had the opportunity to talk to her about our work and how our images. This gave us the opportunity to get feedback on our work from someone different, someone who is successful in the photographic industry.

I was really happy that she liked my work and understood my concept of the mirror acting as a portal to the dream.

She told me to have look at:

• Photography: The Key Concepts by David bate

• Snowflakes Dogman by Hajime Kimura

• Laura el Tantawy

• The Book of Symbols

She also told me to make sure I look at other ways of showing the dream as that will give my project more depth (which I am planning to do anyway). She thinks that the image is stronger when she is not touching the mirror as when she is touching it its too obvious, which surprised me but I can see where she is coming from. Lastly she told made to make sure to look at colour theory when I am creating and writing about the long exposure images with the different coloured lights.
