I decided to step in and help photograph the event as people dropped out of group/ stopped turning up. There was nothing the fundraising team needed to do on the night so I thought I would make myself useful and fill in as documenting the event is important,

I used my Nikon D850 with a 50mm lens and that was a great choice as the lens captures people really nicely. It allowed me to have a low aperture meaning enough light in the images as the location had low lighting.

I wanted to capture candid images as I feel that is the best way to capture an event. This meant I had to stay pretty unnoticed so I could naturally capture people looking at the prints, bidding and having fun. When the auction commenced I stayed towards the back of the room so I wasn't blocking anyone's view. I had a good overview of the room only moving occasionally.

I really enjoyed capturing the nights events and believe I did a pretty successful job, some of the images turned out a little dark or the white balance is slightly off but that can be easily altered in photoshop.

Here are a few of my favourite images from the night.
