Expanding on my previous shoot I decided to purchase a light that can change colour so I could try and create more of mood. Also I need to combat the fact that in my previous shoot I took the images durning the day so they are to light for sleeping.

I think the light will give hints at what the person is feeling in the dream. I really enjoyed this shoot and think it went well although I think I can do better.

I want to play around with the colours more and retouch on my colour theory knowledge from last year. I want the colours to convey the mood of the dream, for instance red being a bad dream as red can be associated with angry, also negative dreams are more common than positive ones.

I like the shade of purple in the mirror reflection but I am not to keen on how it looks in the room. I chose the colour purple as I felt it would create a positive, cozy vibe which I believe it has but I am just not keen on how it reacted with the room.

I shot this just before my crit session with Amak Mahmoodian and she suggested cropping in on the reflection of the mirror disgracing the rest of the room as it makes in more abstract so this will work well for the purple images as I didn't like the surrounding frame.

The red images are my favourite as I think out of the three colours I did it turned out the clearest. I chose red as the most common type of dream is negative and red can be a very negative colour - red is associated with anger, it is the colour of stop signs, the bad/low side of a scale etc.

I am not keen on the blue, it is quite overpowering and you loose most the detail in the face. I hoped the blue would create a melancholy, lonely atmosphere which it does, but not quite how I wanted, I think the image is too confusing as the detail is lost.

These are my favourite images from the shoot before I had the crit session, meaning my ideas have now changed.

For these images I have taken on board the suggestions I got and I think the images have turned out a lot better, I still want to reshoot so I can make the images even more successful but this is a start in the right direction.

I think cropping in on the mirror makes the images a lot more surreal. I don't like how cropping in on the mirror makes you focus on the frame more as I think it is bulky and horrible. When I purchase a new mirror I am going to look for one with a much thinner and dainty frame so that it will be less distracting. My theory is that if the frame is less noticeable it will make the image more surreal as you won't be able to distinguish the fact that is a mirror more clearly.

My next step is to redo this shoot after purchasing a new mirror. I am going to focus more trying to get the colours to come out more clearly and making them look even more abstract.
