I would like to say that I have good knowledge of social media but I decided to look through the social media basics section of the employability toolkit to see if I could learn anything new.
It has lots of helpful little tips in there.

I did some research into the popularity of the top social media (only looking at active users, meaning that have to have logged in in the past 30 days) and discovered that:
Facebook 2.27 billion
Instagram 1 billion
Twitter 336 million
I knew that facebook was top, but I thought Twitter would have a few more monthly users.
On the slide show they give a brief overview of each platform and I have picked out the ones that I think are the best for photography.
I only really use Instagram, but I have a personal Facebook and Twitter account but I don't really use them. I have two Instagram accounts, one personal and one purely dedicated to my photography. I feel Instagram is the best social media to present my work as its all about sharing photos. From this research I feel I should create a photography facebook page so I can reach more people.
I have never really given much thought to LinkedIn but I keep hearing that it a really good idea to have an up-to-date profile on here. Especially as you can gain quite a few jobs due to its adaptable CV section. Coincidentally it is called the business version of Facebook.

I have a business account on Instagram and I find it so useful as it gives you insight into who is following you and into the people who have liked your images. This is a really useful feature as you can try and tailor your posts and learn how to gain more likes and followers.
Bellow you can see the ages ranges and the top locations of my followers.

I find this insight really helpful as it lets me know when my followers are most active, means if I post at this time are am more likely to get more of a reaction as there is a bigger chance it will get seen as it will be higher up in their feed.

You can also get insights into individual posts, it tells you how many people saw it compared and what actions where taken from the post. As well as that it tells you where your likes came from whether they came from their feed, from my profile, form hashtags or elsewhere. I find this helpful as it informs me whether my hashtags are working and how far my profile is reaching.
My plan very soon is create a page on Facebook dedicated to my photography then after that I will look at making a profile on LinkedIn but first I need to make sure my CV and portfolio are up-to-date and the best that they can be.
