The Agency

Kamal from the agency came to talk to us about what the agency offers.

The agency offers in house and external business projects, They hire students from second and third years to deliver projects. The agency will help us through the project.

These projects help you become more credible and professional. students who have worked for the agency are generally the first to be employed once they graduate. This is because they have been pro active and gained experience they also have been very keen to work which shows enthusiasm.

They look through your portfolio and talk through it with you as this can show more of your talent.

Sometime employer will ask for a portfolio first so they can get an idea of what the students can offer, therefore who they want. This means we need to constantly have a up-to-date portfolio at all times.

Some people come into the agency with no confidence so don't feel comfortable doing live briefs but want to gain experience and confidence. So they give them small jobs to do for the agency. They will help you grow so that you end up doing live briefs.

Undergraduates get paid £10hr, if the budget allows it they sometimes hire post graduates who get paid £20hr. Meaning if you are a memorable under graduate they may keep in touch with you.

Sometimes employers will come to the agency because they know that the people that get suggested will have the knowledge needed and won't need any training.

The agency has now launched a shop they sell jewellery, ceramics etc. They are thinking of selling images as images posters.

They also want to great an image bank which will directly relate and help us.

`There is an office in Sutton Harbour that want to exhibit work on rotation from PCA. The budget is small, the hope is that the images will then be brought by people who have entered the office.

There is going to be a folder set up where we will be able to upload 6-9 images and they will be able to choose which ones they want.

The agency is a really good buffer between university and the industry as they are able to look out for us and help us along the way. It is also a really good way of working out what you do to and enjoy doing as work.
