Brainstorming Essay

To get us starting to think deeper into what we wanted to write about we got told to write a world circle or list of words that linked to the topic we were thinking about writing on.

I wanted to look into the media as it is ever changing and there are so many positives and negatives to it - it is something that interests me a lot.

I went through and underlined the words that I thought I was most interested in writing about or I thought linked together well.

To begin with I wanted to look at women in media but then when I got told about linking it to my 202 project I changed my mind as I didn't want to create anything overly political. So with my mind on the media I refined my thoughts to social media, a big topic at the moment is the effect social media is having on people, positive and negative.

From this I created a sort of mind map to see if I could generate more ideas.

With this I came up with a couple of potential questions:

• How does the imagery in the media effect the way people view themselves?

• Are celebrities helping or damaging peoples self esteem?

• Is the current generation the most effected by the media?

• Why do we feel the need to escape society today?

• Is gen z starting to reject social media?

• Does less engagement with social media turn young people to traditional pass times?

• Is social media causing young people to feel the need to escape?

• Social media, is it a hindrance or a help?
